It's really hard to write today...

I'm struggling with finding just the right voices... a voice for the story and a voice for my main character.
I'm probably trying too hard to be 'clever' and just need to have a play at writing it one way and another. I want Madi to be easy to identify with. I want the voice of the story to make the reader smile and fly through the pages, enjoying the ride.
I need the story voice to be like a really enjoyable companion along the journey of the story. I want to choose a voice that flows easily out of my fingers for the entire length of the book... every word fitting the whole.
Madi just won't give me her whole personality yet... she's holding out on me, expecting me to plunge into her story before I know all about her. I guess she'll correct me on subsequent drafts where I get her wrong. LOL

It's really hard to write today...

My throat is sore, and I'm waiting on a phone call from PQ. These things keep my mind occupied, and interrupt any attempt to 'just write'.
I will sit at my desk and type until something gets written... even if it is no good for anything. I will add words to the page, or at least the screen. I will wring them out until they flow and start to become worth reading.
Cross my heart.

It's really hard to write today...

It's really hard to write today because I'm getting over the flu and my brain won't work properly. But it's okay, because I created this blog space which took hours, and I answered all my messages and received all the applications my friends sent me on Facebook.

I did choose a name for the town my main character lives in. That's something at least. I also decided on a name for the shop she goes into in chapter one.

Tomorrow, I will start the writing... the chapter writing. I have a notebook half full of notes and lists of names for characters, places, and things that you're interested in when you're 14.
